From the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship

A unique three-year program, the Rose Architectural Fellowship pairs exceptional, socially minded young architects with community development corporations. Rose Fellows work on the ground in their assigned communities, forging neighborhood ties and developing leadership skills, while strengthening their local hosts’ abilities in high-quality design, meaningful community engagement, and the most advanced green building features.

Host organizations report that fellows have helped them permanently adopt new community and sustainable design policies and approaches, contributing towards 64 developments, 4,400 affordable homes, 43 community facilities, 9 community master plans, and major published works. Eighty-five percent of host organizations have hired their fellow at the conclusion of the fellowship and five organizations created a position within their organization that is modeled on the Rose Fellow’s roles and responsibilities.

Enterprise launched the Rose Architectural Fellowship with support from the Frederick P. Rose family in 2000. Since then, the program has maintained its distinct vision, while playing a significant role in Enterprise’s mission to create opportunity in low-income communities through decent, affordable homes; quality planning, design and development; and a commitment to the environment and civic engagement.
